Our Take on Sustainability
We believe in making useful, beautiful things – but not at any cost. That means we keep things local, choose materials with care, and design to last. We’re not perfect (no one is), but we work in a way that’s as sustainable as possible, for how and where we work.
All our products are made in Cumbria, using British timber and materials. We keep our production small and thoughtful – and we know exactly where our wood comes from.
Locally Sourced Timber
Most of our wood comes from our friends at The Tree on the Hill – a small, passionate team working just a few miles away. They mill and kiln-dry windblown, dead or responsibly felled trees from local estates and woodlands.
They only stock English hardwoods – including oak, ash, elm, beech, sycamore, cherry and yew – and everything is cut and dried on-site using a portable sawmill and computer-controlled kiln. We often use offcuts too, reducing waste where we can.

Built to Last. Easy to Reuse.
Our pieces are made to age well – not end up in the bin. They’re solid, useful and repairable. And if your product ever reaches the end of its life, it can be recycled or composted, depending on the finish.
Where we use packaging, we keep it minimal and plastic-free.

We’re not trying to tick boxes – we just care about doing things properly. We think products with honest materials, clear origins, and thoughtful design feel better to use – and that matters just as much as how they look.
We work with what we have around us. We design things to last. And we’ll keep making better choices wherever we can.
