Tools, Process & Techniques
Do you offer laser engraving?
Can you CNC carve logos or text into wood?
Yes – CNC carving gives you deeper cuts and more sculptural effects. It’s great for branding, layered designs and custom typography.
Can you create custom shapes or cut-outs?
Absolutely. We can shape products to fit specific uses, or create negative space designs and cut-throughs for display or packaging.
What branding methods do you offer for wood?
We offer laser engraving, CNC carving, foil stamping (on some surfaces), embossed textures, and layered elements depending on your product.
Can you emboss or texture wooden surfaces?
Yes – subtle textures can be applied depending on the wood and use case. This is great for brands looking for understated visual identity.
Do you do your own milling and drying?
No – but we source all our wood from trusted local suppliers like The Tree on the Hill, who mill and kiln-dry on-site using sustainable practices.
Where does your timber come from?
Almost all our timber comes from Cumbria and the surrounding areas, using windblown or responsibly felled hardwoods.
What wood finishes do you use?
We use natural oils, hard wax oils and low-VOC finishes. These protect the timber while preserving its natural tone and feel.
Can I choose the type of wood for my order?
Yes – we’re happy to talk you through options like oak, ash, elm or sycamore, and help you pick something that suits your brand and feel.
Do you offer samples or test pieces?
For larger or ongoing projects, yes – we can produce samples or prototypes to make sure everything’s just right before full production.
Design & Commissions
How do I start a custom project with you?
Just book a consultation or drop us a line. We’ll talk through what you’re after, explore ideas and work out the best approach.
Do I need a finalised idea before getting in touch?
Not at all – some of our best work starts with a loose idea. We’ll help shape it with you.

Can you work with my designer or creative agency?
Yes – we love collaborating. We can take your creative ideas and turn them into real-world products, keeping quality and craft at the centre.
What’s the minimum order for a custom project?
There’s no strict minimum, but most commissions start at around £300 depending on complexity.
How long does a commission take?
Most projects take 3–6 weeks. We’ll confirm timings once we’ve scoped the work.
